Welcome...
Meet your teacher
Hello, my name is Noor and I’m bilingual. My native tongue is Arabic.
Here is a small background of my own English journey
When I was a student in primary school, I didn't have any confidence when speaking English. I only knew what they taught us at school in Jordan which was a little bit of grammar and a little bit of reading and writing.
At 14, I decided to become better at speaking and understanding English to effectively communicate with American friends over the internet - I was enamored with pop culture at the time.
It took me a whole year of intense and extreme exposure to the language and specifically the American accent. I didn't bore myself too much with grammar; instead, I learnt it through repetition and hearing what sounds natural.
I increased my vocabulary range and practiced how to pronounce each word with the American accent. I made sure to focus on idioms and expressions to drop the habit of literal translation from Arabic to English in my mind. I surrounded myself with the language all day long as it was my primary goal to completely absorb it.
About the course
In this course, I will share the most commonly used everyday vocabulary, their pronunciation in the American accent, their meaning in English, their meaning in Arabic, and provide an example sentence.
You will also learn what phonetics are and how they help with correct and exact pronunciation. I will also cover certain challenges Arab natives find when speaking English such as P-B confusion, how to properly pronounce the letter P and V, how to pronounce the double t in a word, and how to drop over pronunciation.
The goal of this course is to:
1-Increase your vocabulary range as an Arab native. 2-Help you learn exciting new words and how to pronounce them correctly.
3-Teach you the most common mistakes most Arabs make when speaking English.
4-To increase your fluency level as well as your speaking confidence.
At the end of this course, you will be able to book conversation and pronunciation lessons with me over Zoom and start speaking with confidence.
You will learn the most common words starting with letter A on your first day and so on until the 26th letter Z resulting in 26 days in total. In between, you’ll be asked to complete tasks to help you retain the information effectively. Please allow Fridays to be off for resting and that will bring the total duration to a month.
